It’s no secret that OSU is expanding in leaps and bounds. Our campus has a top-of-the line, multimillion-dollar stadium with donor suites fit for a king, a renowned, newly-remodeled basketball court, and new buildings are going up all over the place. Which makes us wonder: Why does the hub of an exceptional university fine arts program sit neglected on the outer rim of campus, lonely and in dire need of a facelift?

With the Sonics organization recently relocating to Oklahoma City, but leaving the Sonics name in Seattle, the potentional new nickname for the franchise has dominated the Oklahoma sports landscape in recent weeks.

Carolyn Bigda, a reporter for Money magazine, said every year the magazine “changes it up, alternating between medium and small cities.” The only two Oklahoma cities on this year’s list that made it were Norman and Edmond.

On Thursday a judge got a glimpse into the world of wounded Seattle SuperSonics’ superfans, courtesy of author, poet, humorist and season ticket-holder Sherman Alexie. The city called him to describe the team’s importance to the community, or at least to Sherman Alexie — and that he did, gushingly.
