Man runs from and almost over the law, hearing today

A Stillwater man charged with trying to run down a police officer faces an arraignment hearing today.
Jarred Wayne Stubblefield, 29, was arrested at his parents’ home on Lowry Street after being chased from the scene of an attempted burglary, said Stillwater Police Capt. Ryan McCaghren.

Alternative-fuel cars arrive at OSU

Lower fuel prices and cleaner air go hand in hand when it comes to compressed natural gas cars. OSU purchased a fleet of 10 CNG Chevrolet Impalas to use as an alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles.

Past OSU president Halligan takes office

Republican candidate Jim Halligan won the District 21 state Senate seat Tuesday night. Halligan will represent Lincoln, Logan and Payne Counties. Halligan defeated Democrat Robert “Bob” Murphy, Jr., 62 percent to 38 percent, according to the Payne County Election Board.

Kappa Alpha Theta on probation for hazing incident, no students suspended

Kappa Alpha Theta will receive minor penalties after university officials closed the investigation of a hazing incident, according to a university report released Tuesday. The university lifted the sorority’s temporary suspension so it can resume its activities. However, the sorority is on probation until May, according to the report.
