Yvonne Marsh (left) and Scott Stuart (right) were married at 5 p.m. on Saturday, just before the Bedlam game.

OSU alumni Scott Stuart and Yvonne Marsh were married this Saturday before the Bedlam game. Find out how their ceremony went and how they became the Bedlam Couple.

The wedding ceremony took place after the walk on Saturday, before the big game.

“We knew we wanted to keep it simple, and we both have such a love for OSU,” Marsh said.

The couple planned to be married on a game day, but having it on Bedlam was a complete coincidence.

“I was like, ‘Oh it’s Bedlam, that’s even better,’” Marsh said.

It was held under a white tent with friends and family dressed in orange and black.

Marsh walked down an orange aisle scattered with rose petals and held a bouquet made of orange flowers.

Both Marsh and Stuart wore the same OSU jersey with a strip of black cloth covering the name on the back.

After the couple said their vows, the cloth was taken off to reveal the names “Mr. Stuart” and “Mrs. Stuart.”

The OSU pep band closed the ceremony with the school song, and the couple ran into the sunset to watch the game.

Up close and personal

May 2004

The bride, Yvonne Marsh: “We met through friends about 4 1/2 years ago. We talked on the phone for a little while, and we chatted on the computer a little bit. Then, we finally decided to meet in person.”

The first date

June 2004

The groom, Scott Stuart: “I was already (at Buffalo Wild Wings) when she got there, and I described my vehicle to her. She saw the vehicle, and we walked in together. She came in, and we ordered drinks and wings. When she walked away, I was interested. We had great conversation, and when we were ready to leave there, we walked out to her car and I said, ‘You know I’m not really ready for this to end. Would you like to go catch a movie?’ She said ‘yes.’ We went to a movie theater and saw ‘Shrek 2.’ We were the only ones in the theatre. She was actually freezing to death. So, I was trying to keep her warm with an arm around her, which gave me an excuse to put my arm around her. We had a really incredible kiss when the evening ended. We just started seeing each other from there.”

Marsh: “Our first date was at Buffalo Wild Wings, and then we went to see ‘Shrek 2’ afterward, and we were the only people in the whole theater, so it was kind of cool.”

Meeting the parents

November 2004

Stuart: “I was a little surprised. We took a trip to Colorado for the OSU/Colorado game. I took her mother and her sister with me. I rented a car, and we drove up there for 12 1/2 hours. There was a couple of very terse minutes because of differences of personalities.”

Marsh: “His mom is a very energetic, wonderful lady, so it was pretty comfortable.”

The big question

July 2006

Stuart: “I just wanted to make her a part of everything that I had with my best friends. She is my best friend, and we love doing all the same things together. I just wanted her to be a part of that for the rest of my life.”

Marsh: “He kind of tricked me. He said we were going to Cheeseburger in Paradise, just me and him to have dinner, but then they seated us at a table for like 10 people. I said ‘Why are we sitting at this big table?’ He said ‘Well this is all they had so they went ahead and sat us here.’ As the night went on, all these friends started showing up, and he proposed right there at the table. It was a big surprise, and it took me about two seconds to say ‘yes.’”

The big day

November 2007

Stuart: “(It) has been very hectic. I fought with the satellite dish because we have a number of family and friends in for the wedding. I was trying to get it linked up so everybody that can’t get in the game could watch the game. I spent about 3 1/2 hours trying to do that.”

Marsh: “Right now the main thing going through my mind is I hope we beat OU. I’m just thankful to have so many friends and family to help put all this together with me and help me out. I know this is the best decision I’ve ever made. Don’t have any cold feet, just happy and anxious. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
