"It sounds corny, but when I'm with my comedian friends, I just feel good. I'm lucky because I feel way more beautiful than I really am." - Comedian Sarah Silverman to People magazine.

Pubes with heart.

That’s how comedienne Sarah Silverman describes the upcoming season of “The Sarah Silverman Program” on Comedy Central.

The new season of her show is set to begin this month and Silverman said the writing process has gone smoothly.

“We had a really great group of six writers,” Silverman said in a phone interview. “And we came into this season with tons of ideas and never got stuck.”

This marks the first full season for the program after the writers’ strike cut the past season short.

Basic plot lines of episodes include Silverman “smoking pot and solving crime,” “being homeless after losing her house keys” and “starting out the episode nine months pregnant and having a baby.”

Silverman thinks people who don’t understand the subject matter of her show need to look deeper.

“To some people, the show is about wet dreams and diarrhea, but to me maybe it’s about corporate marketing strategies,” Silverman said.

It hasn’t been easy to go from performing standup at summer school in Boston to having her own show on Comedy Central

While doing standup in the northeast, Silverman said she had to pass out fliers for stage time, which got her into more than a few strange situations, the craziest of which was the time a homeless man strangled her on a street corner.

After high school, Silverman had a brief stint in college. After dropping out, her father agreed to pay for her rent in an apartment for the next three years instead of college.

After getting hired and quickly fired from Saturday Night Live, she moved to Los Angeles where she said she got fired so much that she “got used to it.”

“But after a while I stopped getting fired,” Silverman said, “so that was good.”

Those experiences helped her realize what she really wanted to do with her life.

“I would rather be on Comedy Central doing my own show,” she said.

“The Sarah Silverman Program” is in its third season on Comedy Central Wednesday nights at 10:30.
