Two Stillwater residents will move after a fire at Apple Creek Apartments early Monday.
Lakeshia White, 20, and Douglas Gibson, 22, said they were not at their home at 1200 N. Perkins Road when the fire started shortly after midnight in complex D.
Stillwater Fire Marshall Trent Hawkins said the fire “is suspicious in nature” based on its burn patterns.
Hawkins estimated the damage at $5,000; White said a television, some clothes and the bathroom were destroyed.
Stillwater Police Chief Norman McNickle said the fire was limited to the one apartment and was extinguished quickly.
Residents of the building were evacuated.
“My neighbors were beating on my door, and we were outside for about two hours before we could go back inside,” said Jamie Ramy, an Apple Creek resident in complex D.
Apple Creek has 352 apartments, said manager Connie Hackmaty.
Officials are investigating the fire.

wow $5k is lot of money. However what about the trauma.
How about throwing in there on the report this is not the first fire Apple creek has seen. There was a small one back in 2005/06 if I recall.
Wasn’t there a fire at Apple Creek last Thanksgiving? Or am I confusing it with another apartment complex?
