IRVING, Texas — For the second time in four games, Oklahoma State sophomore Dez Bryant has been honored for his play by the Big 12 Conference.
Bryant is this week’s Big 12 special teams player of the week for his efforts in the No. 17 Cowboys’ 56-28 victory against Texas A&M on Saturday night.
He is the first Big 12 player to be honored twice by the league in 2008.
Previously, Bryant had been named the Big 12 player of the week and the Walter Camp Foundation national player of the week for his efforts against the University of Houston.
Against the Aggies, Bryant had a 78-yard punt return for a score — the 11th longest punt return in Oklahoma State history and the longest by a Cowboy since 1997.
With to a 71-yard punt return against Houston also under his belt, Bryant joins Florida’s Brandon James as the only two players in the country with two punt returns for scores this season.
Bryant also had three receiving touchdowns against the Aggies and 216 all-purpose yards. He has seven touchdowns in his past eight quarters of play.
Bryant enters Saturday’s game at No. 3 Missouri second in the nation in scoring (13.2 points per game), fourth in punt returns (23.6 yards per return), fifth in receiving yards (110 per game) and sixth in all-purpose yards (178.4 per game).
The Oklahoma State-Missouri game is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.

Please tell Dez I’m so proud of him. I would tell him myself…but I lost his cell #…which he gave me when he last dropped by (May ‘08) to see me…his 4th grade teacher. I knew and loved Dezmond long before he ever stepped foot on any football field. I wish him nothing but the best.
