From Staff Reports
A woman reported to OSU police Tuesday an acquaintance raped her in university housing while she was intoxicated, according to police records released Thursday.
The woman, a student at another university, told police an OSU student raped her Sept. 11, Capt. Richard Atkins said Thursday. Atkins would not release the time and location of the incident, saying they are “critical components in the investigation.”
A case report has not been released to the public.
“We’ll release the report as soon as we can but we can’t jeopardize the investigation at this point,” Atkins said. “There are numerous leads the investigators are following.”
Universities are required by law to warn of crimes that pose an ongoing threat to students and employees, according to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
No notification was sent to OSU students and staff after the woman gave police the name of the alleged attacker, Atkins said.
“We don’t feel like there is a threat to anyone at the university,” he said.
