Stillwater will finally get a Target. Maybe.
A Texas-based development company has plans to open a Target on the southwest corner of Highway 51 and Country Club Road, according to the company’s Web site.
Direct Development plans to use the Target as the anchor development of a 333,000 square foot retail development, according to the Web site.
The status of the Target store is listed as “pending” on the Web site.
The development, known as Country Club Crossing, has space for 12 other businesses, according to the Web site.
Direct Development is behind a retail development in Moore called Fritts Farm, according to the Web site.
The development includes a Target store, a Home Depot, a Chili’s Bar and Grill and a Starbucks.
Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Old Navy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Circuit City and Bank of America are part of some of Direct Development’s Texas developments.
ShowBiz Cinemas is planned to open in August 2009 on Highway 51.
Wal-Mart opened a second store along the highway in January 2007.
Target and Direct Development could not be reached for comment before this issue went to press.
