Unlike the typical “hands-off” art show, an art show tonight at Vault Video will feature a mural that visitors can personalize. Aaron Jay Schmidt worked on the mural Thursday to get ready for the show.
After a first week back, students needing to free their minds can check out a free art show.
Organizer Damon Blalack has worked hard to, “create something that makes art come alive.”
A 16 foot long by 7 foot tall canvas will be featured at the show and everyone is welcome to leave their own mark.
“Some art shows have a dead feeling,” says Blalack, “[but at the “Seven” show] people can engage with art and get into it.”
The Stillwater Artists’ Coalition’s “Seven” show will take place tonight at 8:30.
Vault Video on the Strip is hosting the event.
Vault owner David Christopher said,
“The show is open to everyone, which is great.”
There is no particular medium for the art show, so artists of different genres will be representing unique works.
Christopher recalls the art show evolving from a canceled concert.
“A concert fell through and [organizer Damon Blalock] came in with a list of ideas and the need for a venue,” Christopher said.
Now, a night of nothing has been turned into something special.
In addition to the art show, live music and DJs will be playing all night.
Free purple popcorn, free projected films and free admission make this event a cheap and enjoyable escape from class.
Christopher hopes that “[the “Seven” show] goes well because I can see it as becoming a monthly event.”
All ages are welcome to attend the event.
