It looks like students and faculty have a sweet tooth for Sugarland.
In the three days since tickets for Orange Peel 2008 went on sale, about 3,500 out of about 7,500 seats have been purchased.
Country music duo Sugarland, along with American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler, country singer Ashton Shepherd and pop rock band Motion City Soundtrack will play the show.
Floor seating, along with the 200-level sections of Gallagher-Iba Arena, are already sold out.
“I would say that you can no longer purchase a ticket for a seat from which you can kick the stage, but you can still easily hit it with your shoe,” said Clayton Cotton, Orange Peel executive director, in an e-mail.
Cotton said that in the past the executive team has estimated that the community buys about half the tickets. If this holds true, Orange Peel might see its first sold-out show.
This year’s Orange Peel is set for Oct. 3. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with Shepherd set to perform at 7 p.m., Pickler at 7:35 p.m., Motion City Soundtrack at 8:20 p.m., and Sugarland will take the stage at 9:15 p.m. All times are subject to change.
Tickets for the general public are on sale today at 9 a.m.
The remaining tickets are $40, and available at the Orange Peel Web site, by phone at 1-877-OSU-PEEL or at the Ticket Hub in the Student Union.
