The new BOK Center, in addition to attracting entertainment and concerts, will provide a new venue for Oklahoman sports teams. The AF2 Tulsa Talons and the CHL Tulsa Oilers will play in the new arena, and the NBA will have a preseason game there in October.
(MCT) — The new Oklahoma City NBA team will play its first game in Tulsa.
The Oklahoma City franchise will play the Houston Rockets in a preseason game Oct. 13 at the BOK Center, it was announced at a press conference Monday.
“Tulsa is an important part of Oklahoma’s NBA success and the BOK Center is an important part of Tulsa’s future,” said Clay Bennett, chairman of the Oklahoma City franchise, in a press release. “We are thrilled that Tulsa and its new first class arena are able to host the first chance for fans in Oklahoma to see their new team on the court. The people of Tulsa have shown that they are committed to making the NBA work in Oklahoma, and having the chance to host a preseason game this year is a direct result of their commitment and excitement.”
Tickets for the preseason game can be purchased at bokcenter.com, by calling the Tulsa Convention Center Box Office at 877-TULSA-CC, or at area Reasor’s and Homeland locations.
A preseason game had previously been scheduled for the BOK Center on Oct. 13 between Houston and Orlando. Oklahoma City replaces Orlando as the opponent for the Rockets.
The Oklahoma City team was relocated from Seattle after the 2007-08 season. OKC’s first regular-season game is Oct. 29 in the Ford Center
against the Milwaukee Bucks.
