Eskimo Joe’s celebrates its 33rd anniversary this week with events every day. From concerts to carnivals to charity benefits, the weeklong celebration has been noticed in the community
Eskimo Joe’s celebrates its anniversary each year by hosting a weeklong series of events.
The celebration, in honor of the establishment’s 33rd anniversary, started Monday with a live outdoor concert featuring Stillwater bands No Justice and The Turnpike Troubadours. The week ends Sunday with a car show and free Eskimo Joe’s “birthday” cake.
Business sophomore Rob Nadeau was one of about 800 people who enjoyed the concert Monday night.
“The music events this week embody what a college town is all about,” Nadeau said. “Eskimo Joe’s knows how to capitalize on it by bringing the best bands to Stillwater.”
The week of events includes concerts from The Hero Factor, Sam and the Styles, Steve Liddell, Banana Seat and DJ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Eskimo Joe’s is also having a free outdoor carnival on Saturday for children.
Manager Tim Hollands is enthusiastic about this week’s celebration reaching the Stillwater community.
“There’s something for everyone,” Hollands said. “It’s our first year to have two nights of outdoor shows for all ages and third year to have the carnival.”
Monday night the restaurant benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters by selling autographed posters.
“As a good, corporate citizen, we want to give back to the community when we can,” Hollands said. “No Justice signed 150 posters, and we sold them for five dollars each. It was a great way to tie in the band with the benefit.”
Stillwater native Evan Felker of the Turnpike Troubadours said he was excited to be a part of the celebration.
“These events have brought a lot of people together from all around Oklahoma,” Felker said. “Stillwater’s the biggest small town I know.”
Tonight, Eskimo Joe’s is hosting a blood drive to go with the theme “Nightmare on Elm Street” followed by a night of music featuring DJ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Friday, The Hero Factor and The Sherree Chamberlain Band will perform on the outdoor stage across from the restaurant.
“These outdoor shows provide us with an opportunity to do something for all ages,” Hollands said. “I think that’s something that Stillwater needs and lacks.”
Eskimo Joe’s plans on having more all-ages shows this fall with the release of several local bands’ new albums, including Kunek, Mayola, Colourmusic and The Sherree Chamberlain Band, Hollands said.

James,
Tsk, tsk. First of all, the band name is Sam and the Stylees. Secondly, his name is Tim Holland. Had you turned in this article for reporting or public affairs reporting class, you would have gotten a grade of zero based on name misspellings alone. Not to mention, I’m willing to bet Mr. Holland isn’t amused that his name was wrong.
Just thought you should know.
wow, you got owned by sunny d. Not good to get managers last name wrong.
sunny d. guy was harsh! Great story James!!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Awesome job on getting front page!
