OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Gov. Brad Henry continues to hold out hope that Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama will visit Oklahoma before the November general election.
When Henry announced his support of Obama, he said the presidential hopeful had committed to visit the state.
The governor says he is continuing to talk to Obama’s campaign about a visit, but no date has been set.
He says University of Oklahoma President David Boren, another Obama supporter, also is trying to persuade the candidate to come to the state. Boren has also extended an invitation to Republican candidate John McCain.
Obama will be the underdog to Republican John McCain in Oklahoma, which has not voted for a Democrat for president since 1964.
