The Spavinaw Reservoir will be drilled to find oil and natural gas.
TULSA (AP) — Tulsa’s Metropolitan Utility Authority has approved a lease allowing Red Fork Investments to drill for oil and natural gas in the Spavinaw Reservoir and the city’s water supply flow line.
Authority member Lou Reynolds said the policy gives the city control of the of the project and protects the water from possible contamination from the drilling.
He said if oil or gas is found in the area the city will get a prorated fraction in royalty payments.
