NONfest will host many local musicians and artists, including Sine Wave Sea, Natura Mas, Magnificent Bird and Dorian Small. Michael Taber and Adrian Fallwell, NONzine creators, started the arts and music festival as a way to raise money and awareness for their biweekly entertainment publication.

If straining for finals has zapped the creative juices out of your energy drink and fast food ravaged body, then allow this Saturday’s NONfest to fill you back up.

NONzine, a biweekly and independently-produced entertainment publication crafted in the heart of Oklahoma City, will host NONfest to raise money and awareness for NONzine.

After building NONzine from scratch, creators Michael Taber and Adrian Fallwell have been faithfully drawing attention to Oklahoma artists, musicians and writers for the past two years.

“We don’t have rich parents or any grants,” Taber said. “We built this thing with hustle.”

Co-founder Adrian Fallwell said that NONzine “is a bit of a struggle, a labor of love.”

Fallwell said she thinks that one of the major struggles in producing NONzine is the cost.

He said, “A metal display rack costs $50 alone.”

After giving so much to Oklahoma, Taber and Fallwell are hoping to receive a little love in return with NONfest.

“Hopefully we can raise some money, get caught up and buy more racks, so we can be carried at more locations,” Fallwell said.

NONfest seems like the perfect tool to help Taber and Fallwell reach their goal.

Like a circus filled with talented artists and musicians instead of elephants and clowns, the entire event will be separated into two large buildings.

One building will house a silent art auction, but it will not be quiet for long because live music sets will play near it all day.

Oklahoma natives Sine Wave Sea, Natura Mas, Magnificent Bird, Ghost of Monkshood, Asleep Audience Dream and Dorian Small are set to play at 6 p.m.

If live music is not enough for you, The Pirate Audio Sound, Friskee Media, Jack Acid and many others will spin for the duration of the festival.

NONfest will also show local independent films during the course of the day.

With all NONfest has to offer, it comes as no surprise that Taber is in good spirits.

“It is the community tie-in and the spirit of the thing,” he said. “Everyone is doing this to make NONzine stronger.”

The fun begins at 2 p.m. and will not end until the midnight oils begin to burn.

So, if students find themselves in Oklahoma City on Saturday and they are near 3118 N. May, then they might as well stop by because they are only feet away from NONfest.

Tickets are $20 at the door, and online at http://www.nonzine.com.
