Student Government Association senators will deliberate 13 pieces of legislation in tonight’s Senate meeting.
Four of the pieces of legislation regard granting co-sponsorship to student organizations, according to the agenda.
Budget Chairman Michael Gumbs said if senators pass the co-sponsorship bills, $2,500 will be dispersed to student groups.
Gumbs said it has been a long semester but the Senate has done a lot of good for the university.
Gumbs also said he is proud the OSU administration fulfilled a vision he had in 2006.
“My first year in SGA and OCSA, I passed a bill through OCSA to install bus stop shelters and it has happened,” Gumbs said. “At the time I thought it was a great need and a good idea.”
“A Resolution Condemning the Actions of SGA President Michael Warren,” is also listed under “New Business,” according to the agenda. According to the agenda, the resolution will be considered in “committee as a whole.”
President Michael Warren said Internal Affairs Chairman Michael Matousek wrote the resolution.
“The second of three claims Mr. Matousek wants to condemn me for reads as follows: ‘President Warren was part of a group that left the pice president and an FRC member behind without their change of clothes, and refused to return when called multiple times.’ This is hilarious,” Warren said.
Warren said the move may have come at the end of the semester simply because it’s easier to “sling mud on the way out.”
“Resolutions like this are a perfect example of why so many students want to see a real change in the student Senate,” Warren said.
Senate Chairman Justin Biassou said Rep. Lee Denny will address the Senate.
Biassou said Denny will discuss state legislature agenda items as well as her plans for this year’s session.
Biassou said the university committee will be preparing for Constituency Days on library lawn scheduled for next week.
Constituency Days is an event where senators provide food to students and survey them to better hear the student voice, he said.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in Case Study 2 of the Student Union. Senators encourage students to attend the meeting and voice any concerns. For more information on the Student Government Association, visit http://www.osusga.com.
