It’s all about the clothes at the third annual African American Business Student Association’s Spring Fashion show “Lights, Camera, Fashions: Hollywood Style.”
The association has been putting on fashion shows for the past two years. The shows have been a successful event every year.
Students and members have the opportunity to model fashions for the show. This year most of the proceeds will go to the local chapter of the NAACP, an organization that supports African American development in the community and the nation.
The members start planning for the show as early as November.
The event wouldn’t be complete without its sponsors such as Belk, Old Navy, Goodies and Rue 21.
Students will be able to see a variety of styles including casual clothing, swimwear for the summer and clothing for a perfect night on the town. The fashion show will feature clothes that express students’ personal styles.
Nevin Jones, African American Business Student Association president, said he believes that fashion is an important aspect of students’ lives, especially in college.
“Fashion is an expression of yourself,” he said. “It’s how you show yourself to everyone.”
Of the past two shows, Jones said he enjoyed the classic theme the best.
The admission price is $3. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Union Theater.
