For the second consecutive week, an Oklahoma State Cowboy has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Player of the Week.
Senior first baseman Rebel Ridling earned the honor for games played during the week of Feb. 25-March 2.
Ridling led OSU to a 3-1 record in Tampa, Fla., in games against South Florida and Northwestern. Ridling was 10-for-20 (.500) and led the club with three home runs and 11 RBIs.
He also scored six runs, had a pair of doubles and turned in a 1.050 slugging percentage.
On Saturday against Northwestern, Ridling blasted two homers and collected five RBIs, and his two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the game into extra innings. The previous day in a win against the Wildcats, he was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
In Sunday’s win against South Florida, Ridling was 4-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs. His four hits tied a career high.
Ridling, a native of Sentinel, had at least one hit and one RBI in each of the four games in Florida to help OSU improve to 7-1 on the season.
A second-team All-Big 12 performer last season, Ridling is hitting .438 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 2008.
The weekly award is the second of Ridling’s career as he was also named the Big 12 Player of the Week on April 2, 2007.
Second baseman Tyrone Hambly earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors Feb. 25.
