It should be obvious by now that “Tax Cut” is the name of the Republican game, so it makes sense that that’s the first place to turn when things head south.
On that note, haven’t we had enough scapegoats?
President Bush for every minute thing that has gone wrong in the past eight years (not that he’s blameless). Oil companies for scalping us on gas prices.
Don’t like the price of gas? Don’t buy it.
Ride the bus, buy a bike, something. According to Lisa’s column, gas prices should have only increased $1.24. if it had risen solely from inflation. “If” being the key qualifier here.
Oil companies have to pay for many things other than just the cost of gas. Every time the EPA passes another law on the restriction of emissions, oil companies have to upgrade their facilities and processes to accommodate the changes.
So stop giving only the consumer’s side of the story. Lisa suggests passing a law to drop the gas prices by a dollar or two. So then we’ll up the taxes to individuals to pay for the upgrades that oil companies need to make, right?
Better yet, let’s remove all restrictions on everything, and just pollute the country like mad and hope that global warming takes us all out before we have to answer to our children and our grandchildren for the havoc we wreaked on their world.
