Stillwater’s El Tapatio is opening a second location in what was previously Bill’s Fish House at 825 S. Perkins Road. The new location should open in a few months.
El Tapatio is not moving — it’s expanding. The popular Mexican restaurant El Tapatio will add a location to Perkins Road, which was previously Bill’s Fish House, keeping the one on 1711 N. Boomer Road near Forty North apartments, and also having one on 825 S. Perkins Road.
Although they are not sure when the opening will take place, employees at the original “El Tap,” as it is known to regular diners at the establishment, hope to see the grand opening within the next few months.
With the convenience of two El Tapatios in Stillwater, those who live on the southeast side of town will not have as far to drive to enjoy their particular style of Mexican food.
El Tapatio patrons said they will enjoy having the additional convenience of the new location.
“Most of my friends live on the east side of town, so having a restaurant over there means we have to drive much less distance,” James Roberts, a Stillwater resident, said.
Bill’s Fish House was not available for comment on why the restaurant closed in Stillwater, and the number has been disconnected, leaving no doubt that they are not only moving, but also have left town. With its disappearance, Red Lobster and Long John Silver’s become the only seafood restaurants in town.
