Professors who want to use the latest technology — and stop students from misusing it — can attend a workshop and tour of OSU’s technology and distance learning office.
Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., faculty can attend a workshop about preventing students from using Google and Wikis during tests.
There’s no registration for the open house, but faculty can register online at http:/ itle.okstate.edu to attend the workshop. There are 25 seats left in the workshop.
The Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence Open House runs Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
ITLE event planner, Laura Crutcher, said interested students are welcome, but the tour and workshop are focused on faculty.
“By having a face-to-face conversation with faculty and staff, ITLE will not only get the chance to introduce its services, but also get to know faculty’s needs better,” Crutcher said.
Hong Lin, ITLE faculty development manager, said ITLE works with the provosts’ office.
“Under the Provost’s office we provide faculty members with tools to enhance their teaching,” Lin said. “ITLE is a support service for faculty and when faculty use our services, they will benefit students. Students are welcome to come if they wish to see what their professors are doing.”
Crutcher said they started planning the event in December.
The open house is not a guided tour so attendants can choose to go to whatever department they are interested in, Crutcher said.
Refreshments will be provided.
ITLE is in 100 Telecommunications, behind the Public Information Office building.
