Angel Henderson, president of Kappa Alpha Psi, said it takes time, dedication and coordination for his fraternity to prepare for Black Student Orientation.
Kappa Alpha Psi is one organization performing at BSO, to be held tonight at 6:30 in the Student Union Little Theater. Dress is business casual.
The event, which the African American Student Association hosts, introduces freshmen to the umbrella organizations under Afro-Am.
During the event, Kappa Alpha Psi will perform a step show that members have been preparing since the beginning of the school year. The fraternity is keeping the details of their show a secret.
“We’re trying to build up anticipation around our performance,” said Roland Williams, a finance and accounting senior and treasurer of Kappa Alpha Psi.
Members of the black fraternities and sororities work each year to come up with something new for their performances at BSO, he said.
The performances introduce the members of greek organizations and educate freshmen about what each organization does.
Each sorority and fraternity will perform a unique style of step at the event, Henderson said.
“This is the first time they actually get to see a large community of minorities, as well as just have a good time,” he said.
