Every member of the editorial board has had an awkward moment. In honor of the “socially awkward” article, we felt it appropriate that today’s edit should relate. So, without further adieu: You might be socially awkward if:
•You, believing you were alone in a public restroom, have ever sung, discussed personal details or made embarrassing noises only to discover you weren’t alone.
•Your professor makes references to your sex life in front of the class.
•You’ve written a text bashing someone and sent it to the subject rather than the intended recipient.
•You can’t flirt with your crush while sober.
•You’re missing underwear and the situation definitely calls for underwear.
•You forget the name of the person with whom you’re speaking, but s/he knows your name.
•You remember details from someone’s Facebook and then bring them up later.
•You’re not a freshman, but you’re in freshman orientation.
•You forget everything you need for class and have to ask to borrow stuff from people you don’t know.
•You have an embarrassing ringtone on your cell and it goes off in class.
•You wave at someone who wasn’t waving at you, or you wave at someone you don’t know.
•You have someone walk in on you, or you walk in on someone. (What you walk in on can vary.)
•You respond to an IM in the wrong box.
•You come up short when paying or your card is declined.
•You think someone using Bluetooth is speaking to you and you attempt to converse.
•You accidentally say “I love you” to someone.
•You’ve over-shared while drunk and had to face everyone the next day.
•Your prof.’s spouse has “heard of” you.
•You’ve done the Walk o’ Shame.
•You laugh at inappropriate things.
•You’ve asked a girl when she’s due and she wasn’t pregnant.
•You’re a TA and you’ve made out with one of your students.
•You’ve run into a TA or prof. at a party.
•You’ve been stared at while rocking out in your car.
•You’ve heard people having sex from the next room.
