The O’Collegian: Rumor has it you are a pretty good cook.
Rod Johnson: Who told you that? Well, I had to start watching my weight so I started to cook my own meals back in high school. I got recipes from my mom and try to follow them as best I can.
OC.: So what do you make that’s good?
R.J.: I make a mean spaghetti; I make Velveeta lasagna, which is my favorite. To make it a little more to my liking, I throw in my own spices here and there.
OC: Do you watch any Food Network?
R.J.: Oh yeah! Rachael Ray, Emeril and all those. I pretty much watch anything that comes on that channel. I can sit up all night and watch every show that comes on.
OC: If football doesn’t work out, will you attend an culinary arts school?
R.J.: I definitely want to do that. I contacted a school that’s in Tucson, Ari., about six months ago. So if football doesn’t work out, I will head that way and maybe one day open a little mom-and-pop shop.
OC: Who are your biggest fans from the team?
R.J.: Defensive end Maurice Cummings, my roommate; the entire defensive line; offensive lineman Jerry Palmoore and Calvin Mickens.
