We’ve heard it before, “There’s nothing to do in Stillwater.” Unfortunately, another student hangout, Happy Narwhal Records, is closing it’s doors today.
Although the record store is not necessarily closing because of lack of revenue, we wonder if there’s anything that could have saved the store.
Maybe if more students shopped there, Narwhal wouldn’t be closing down, or maybe we have it all wrong and it’s not only about the money.
It’s sad that such a unique store won’t be open for students to spend their free hours at and that there will be no more awesome shows for residents to attend there.
It is also unfortunate that this may be the first time students have even heard of this store that sold actual records instead of only CDs.
There may be some students who wish they had found out about such a store earlier.
Students and residents, remember, if there’s a place you enjoy in Stillwater, it doesn’t hurt to spread the word about the spot so more people can enjoy it and ultimately support it with their patronage.
