Dance it off

Raagini Vasan Subramaniam, a biochemistry and molecular biology junior, performs at Masti 2007 in the “dance off” category. The Indian Student Association sponsored the event.

Ride ‘em

Cody Stevens braved the cold Saturday evening to take part in the OSU Beauty and the Beast Rodeo. The bulls wound up on the wining side because only two out of 10 cowboys were able to complete an eight second ride. Candice Foster competed against 10 other barrel racers.

The Woods Advantage

As a former quarterback, senior Donovan Woods has a natural understanding of offensive schemes and formations – knowledge that has made him a more complete player.

Cowboys avoid sweep

LINCOLN, Neb. — Rebel Ridling’s two-run home run in the seventh inning proved to be the difference as Oklahoma State earned a 7-5 victory in its series finale against Nebraska on Sunday at Hawks Field.

Cowgirls unable to corral Mizzou

The Cowgirls didn’t step up to the plate this weekend.

Missouri came into Stillwater and swept the Cowgirls, winning 2-1 on Friday night and 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Friday evening’s game was all about the pitching. Cowgirl senior Jessica Hoppock and Missouri’s Jen Bruck pitched complete games. It was Hoppock’s 88th complete game of her career.

Hoppock struck out five and gave up five hits for two runs: two solo home runs from Bruck in the third and Amanda Renth in the fourth. Those two runs were enough to win the game for the Tigers because the Cowgirls had no answer offensively.

The lone run for Oklahoma State (24-22, 2-5 Big 12) came in the third when Krystle Sanchez singled to left to score Shanel Scott who was on second base. But despite the Cowgirls eight hits, the runs weren’t coming in.

“We couldn’t get them home,” Coach Rich Wieligman said. “We left nine girls on base. It seemed like we would get them on with two outs. We just needed that clutch hit and it didn’t come through.”

The pitching held up throughout the game. Missouri’s Bruck struck out a career-high 10 batters. Although Hoppock got the loss and is 12-11, Wieligman said he was pleased with her performance.

Cowboys learning to play as one

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said earlier this spring that quarterback is the most difficult position football — not because it requires a level of intelligence, dexterity and physical stature unique from other positions — but because there can be just one quarterback on the field at a time.

Campus office hosts Disability Awareness Week

Disability Awareness Week’s purpose is to increase the university community’s awareness of different disabilities and the services the Student Disability Services office provides, said Tanya Reitan, a disability specialist with SDS.

Alcohol, partying not a prerequisite to fun

When I came to OSU, fun was defined to me in a whole new light. That is, fun wasn’t complete without alcohol — and lots of it.

Allow facts to speak for themselves

Good people tell me I shouldn’t write this column because it might ruin a career. Friends tell me I must be careful. So, I’ll stick to facts and let others speak.

Don’t tell me what to do in life

Today I am a journalism and political science major. Tomorrow I could be an English major. The day after, I might decide art is the thing for me.

Take time to understand others

Let’s be honest. Relations between Muslims and non-Muslims aren’t always as smooth as they could be.
