Oklahoma State guard Tony Allen has been named the Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced today, by the league office. It is Allen’s second such award in three weeks.
The 6-foot-4-inch junior averaged 19 points and 6.5 rebounds in two conference road wins last week. At Texas Tech, he scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.
He also dished out five assists and had five steals.
In the game at Baylor last week, he had 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting and scored eight of the teams final 14 points in regulation. He also had a convention three-point play in overtime to secure the win.
On the season, Allen leads the team, averaging 16.3 points per game.
He is shooting 52.8 percent from the floor, including 47.7 percent (21-of-44) from beyond the three-point arc. Allen is averaging 5.2 rebounds, three assists and 2.2 steals per contest.
Oklahoma State, which has the best record in Division I basketball at 16-1 and sits atop the Big 12 standings at 5-0, will host the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
