Watch what you eat

Published: May 01, 2001

There are seven cafeterias on campus that have received citations for health code violations in the past year.

Bennett Hall, Kerr-Drummond Complex, Scott-Parker-Wentz Complex, Willham Complex, the Student Union Food Court, the Student Union Hotel and Westside Cafe have all received violations from the Payne County Health Department.

The seven cafeterias have been issued citations for issues concerning animal contamination or for having inadequate food storage areas.

Larger dining establishments, like those in violation, are always harder to maintain due mostly to their size, but size should not be an excuse.

Many on campus have no other options than the cafeterias and food court. Providing a clean and healthy environment should be the first thing on these cafeterias’ list.

Customers expect the cafeterias and food court to be a safe bet, but after the violations it has become apparent that even the large establishments are capable of slipping below an expected level of excellence.
