Red Cross aims to raise $350,000

Oklahoma Red Cross announced its campaign this past Monday in an effort to raise $350,000 by the end of this fiscal year — June 30. Payne County is hoping to contribute $5,000 to the fund.

Giving prayers for all

When the man who brought terror to the heartland is put to death by lethal injection on May 16, the Terre Haute, Ind., prison in which he is being detained will be crawling with about 400 state, local and federal law enforcement officers. CNN.com is reporting that some law enforcement authorities, as well as some of the local residents, fear a possible terrorist attack when McVeigh is executed.


Getting older, (hopefully) wiser

It’s been a full four years since I began my college education, though I’m no where near graduation. And all of this time, despite my brief break from academia, has made me a little stir crazy — and a few other kinds of crazy.

Kent Sampson, SGA adviser and master of ceremonies for the event, kicked things off by commending this year’s SGA members for their “quality and caliber.”

“We couldn’t have got as far ahead without the student leadership here at Oklahoma State,” Sampson said.

All proceeds from the concert, which includes $981.43 from cover charges plus pre-ticket sales and donations not tallied yet, will be evenly distributed between the 10 scholarship funds set up in memory of the 10 fallen Cowboys.

Keener: Graduation increase not a problem

According to a regents’ April 18 press release, 25,947 students are expected to graduate from Oklahoma universities this spring. This past spring, Oklahoma universities graduated about 24,800 students. The regents gathered the estimates by sending surveys to all Oklahoma institutions.
