Another shutout

Published: April 02, 2001

“They (Texas Tech) were a little bit down because their No. 1 player wasn’t here,” coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said.

“But, the weather has been horrible. There hasn’t been one nice day for us to play.”

Oklahoma State’s No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Linda Faltynkova and freshman Katarzyna Kolodynska pounded Stephanie Mueller and Barbar Schraml 8-2 to record the first victory for the Cowgirls, improving their doubles record to 17-0.

OSU’s No. 21-ranked doubles team of senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips and junior Ashleigh Dolman fell behind 1-2 to Beverly Dawson and Sonnia Orellana before storming back to take the match, 8-3, at the No. 1 spot.

Galoustova-Phillips recorded her 12th victory of the season at No. 1 singles, cruising past Schraml 6-4, 6-3.

The Cowgirls will travel to Columbia, Mo., on Wednesday to take on the Missouri Tigers.
