Miss Vegetarian — I applaud you. People should feel sorry for animals living in cages, those poor suffering animals such as chickens, so folks — quit eating chicken.
By golly, have some beef. And please — sink your teeth into a juicy, succulent, tender, flavorful steak. Not only does it taste great, but it is better for you than downing a few longnecks. But you, Sarah Conrad, are not a true vegetarian — do you drive a vehicle with tires or use conditioner when washing your hair? If so you are supporting the beef industry, ever heard of beef byproducts? Apparently our vegetarian columnist does not understand the importance of beef in our lives.
Beef helps prevent osteoporosis, anemia and helps to heal our sore muscles. Beef is packed with protein, iron zinc, B-vitamins, CLA, selenium and choline.
You spoke of world hunger and blamed it on feeding our animals. I suggest you take Introduction to International Agricultural 4713 taught by Dr. James White. In there you will learn the truth behind starving nations! Check your facts, that part of your column was wack.
You seem to believe animals raised for consumption are treated harshly before taken to the rail.
Your are so wrong.
I have been directly involved with the beef industry for 26 years and my family has been in it since 1903. Never have we been involved in the harsh treatment of cattle.
