The Lady Bears of Baylor came to play basketball against our Cowgirls. The Lady Bears were nationally ranked and successful in recently knocking off the No. 1 team in the Big 12.
Our Cowgirls had been inconsistent and struggling. But last night they were filled with determination as they sported arm bands with the No. 10 in memory of our lost family.
They fell behind by as many as 13 points but with their determination pulled even and took the lead toward the end. In the course of their comeback there were a number of times when they cut to the basket and forced a layup, the ball would spin around the rim and finally go in.
On the other end of the court a number of the Lady Bears’ close in shots would bounce around and fall out. And with the game knotted at 55 Baylor’s last second shot could not find the mark.
It’s this observer’s firm belief our Cowgirl’s determination was being rewarded with some heavenly help. “Bill and the Boys” were giving them a hand!
You’ll never convince me otherwise. In overtime our Cowgirl’s determination continued and they won the game by three!
Again, Gallagher-Iba was filled with tears, but this time with tears of joy. Monday night the Missouri men’s team comes to town. I must warn them and everyone else who comes to Gallagher-Iba, we have some talented and very determined athletes.
And from Wednesday forward? “Bill and the Boys!”
