After the prosecution rested on Monday, the defense began its case, calling 12 witnesses by Thursday.
Paeyeneers took the stand Tuesday in her own defense.
The prosecution, led by District Attorney Rob Hudson, and the defense, led by attorney Cheryl Ramsey, gave closing arguments Thursday. The trial ended about 2:45 p.m.
The jury could be finished deliberating as early as today, said a source at the Payne County Courthouse.
Paeyeneers was charged with conspiracy and first-degree murder of her husband, Floyd Thomas “Tommy” Paeyeneers.
He was found by police Nov. 29, 1999, with multiple gunshot wounds — he died several hours later.
Throughout the trial, the state produced more than 30 witnesses, including Philip Meadows, who said he and Paeyeneers had an affair.
Meadows signed an agreement with the state in March in which he agreed to testify against Paeyeneers.
Meadows said he and Paeyeneers planned to murder Tommy Paeyeneers together but said the murder was initially Jennifer Paeyeneers’ idea.
