I imagine that is how it was for many people as they were forced to deal with such horrendous news. With the rumors and reports spreading rampantly with different versions of the 10 names being exchanged, it was hard to even concentrate between the muddled reports on the news.
As the night grew older and the information came together, a clearer picture was being formed as conformation of names were given to reporters at the airport. Many gathered to support not only one another, but to offer their strength to the ones who needed it the most.
Although they were all a vital part of the university, as much as the students and the buildings that make up our campus, the loss of their lives will be a great burden to bear. The loss of these friends and associates is an even heavier question to be answered.
One of the worst things of all, is that the 10 friends, peers and colleagues will never be able to witness the future glory that awaited them in the newly remodeled Gallagher-Iba Arena. We can all honor them with our tearful laughter and warm thoughts whenever we see the team they loved so much.
Situations involving such tragic disasters are more difficult to deal with. The wait for the completion of investigations and the announcement of lingering reports can push an event such as this beyond the breaking point.
We all must try to come together in traditional Oklahoma fashion once more in an attempt to overcome the grief and sadness felt by many across campus.
My warmest hopes and highest regards go out to those most involved in this unfortunate tragedy. Let us keep them close to our hearts and remember them as true Cowboys.
