The defense will begin its case this week and is expected to call up to 50 witnesses, including Paeyeneers.
Paeyeneers is charged with conspiracy and first-degree murder of her husband, Floyd Thomas “Tommy” Paeyeneers. If convicted, Paeyeneers may face the death penalty.
Last week, Phillip Meadows — who entered a deal with the state in which he agreed to testify against Paeyeneers — testified they had an affair and conspired to kill Tommy Paeyeneers.
Although they planned the murder together, it was originally Jennifer Paeyeneers’ idea, Meadows said.
Defense attorney Cheryl Ramsey placed Meadows under cross-examination Tuesday. After comparing his testimony to transcripts from interviews with the police and the district attorney’s office, Ramsey asked questions that showed inconsistencies in Meadow’s story.
On Thursday, Erin Henry, criminologist for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, testified.
Henry had done DNA testing on gray underwear owned by Paeyeneers, which was introduced as evidence. She testified that bodily fluids from both Paeyeneers and Meadows were found on the underwear.
The trial will resume this morning in the Payne County District Court.
