Oklahoma State women’s soccer student athletes Julie Harris, Emily Morgan and Kindel Fenscke were named to the 1998 Soccer Academic All-Big 12 Team, according to the conference office Thursday.
Head coach Karen Hancock was proud of the trio and the dedication they showed in the classroom and on the field.
"These three truly epitomize the meaning of student athlete and I am very happy to see their efforts get recognized."
Student athletes receiving first-team accolades must have earned a 3.2 grade point average or better and participated in at least 50 percent of this season’s contests.
Honorable mention all-conference honorees earned a 3.0 GPA or better and also participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s competitions.
Harris and Morgan received first team honors for the first time in their careers, while Fenscke received honorable mention plaudits for the second year in a row.
Harris, business sophomore from Tulsa, started in all 17 contests she played in and recorded one goal with two assists from the defensive backfield.
Morgan, education senior from Pensacola, Fla., started in all 18 games this season and was a three-year team captain for the Cowgirls.
She finished the season with two assists and is among the school’s all-time leaders in several offensive categories.
"Emily deserves special recognition because she has consistently worked hard on her academics during her three years here," Hancock said.
Fenscke, a psychology junior from Broken Arrow, played in all 18 games this season and started in 14.
She scored one goal with two assists this season from her midfield position.
Overall, 61 student athletes from around the league were named to the team with Texas Tech leading the way with nine, followed by Missouri and Baylor with eight each.
